Grove Terry Carter, age 81, passed away at the Veteran's Administration Hospital July 28, 2004, his daughter Fonnie's birthday, due to complications from multiple sclerosis. He was born January 6, 1923 in Spring Lake, Utah to Ruben E and Marinda Carter, the oldest of nine children. Grove served in World War II and the Korean War. While at-tending Utah State University, he met his wife, Fonnie R. Hanson, and they were mar-ried August 11, 1951 in the Logan Temple. He worked as a teacher and counselor at Bicknell High School in Wayne County prior to working as a counselor for Utah State Division of Services for the Visually Handicapped which he did for 26 years. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and reading books. He loved vacations with his family and in general loved life. Survivors include his wife, Fonnie; daughter, Nadine (David) Macbeth, Provo; sons, Duane (Bonnie), Sandy, Rodney (Valynn), Grantsville, and Darrel (Loa), Snoqualmie, WA; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Also survived by eight brothers and sisters, Rowene (Oliver) Knapp, Bill (Janeen), Verna Taylor, Dan Iona (Merrin) Spainhower, Cathlene Carras, Mac (Michael Gay) and Curtis (Jerry). Preceded in death by daughters, Fonnie Prescott and Janet Tolley. The family wishes to give special thanks to Gwen Mitchell of HBPC from the VA Hospital and many aides and nurses from Harmony Health Care. Funeral services held Wed. Aug 4 at 11 a.m. in the Grandview 2nd Ward, 2930 S. 2000 East, Salt Lake City. Interment in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
