Brizendine Death
From 'Self-Inflicted'
Wound, Coroner Says.

MAYFIELD. Ky., Oct. 16 -- (Special) W. H. Brizendine, 74, owner and manager of a furniture store here, died as a result of a "self-Inflicted" gunshot wound, Coroner Horner Davis said Monday.

Mr. Brizendlne died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday after he was found unconscious on his hotel room floor about 10 a.m. A bullet wound, which officers said was inflicted by a 32 calibre pistol, was in his right temple. The bullet was lodged over the left eye.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Byrn funeral home with the Rev. J. Howard Baxter, pastor of the First Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.

Survivors Include the widow, Mrs. Motie Brizendine, two daughters, Mrs. George Kohn, Mexico City, Mexico, and Mrs. William Hicks, Mayfield, and a sister, Mrs. Tom Emmerson, Mayfield.

Mr. Brizendlne was associated with the old Mayfield Woolen Mills, the National Clothing Company ahd the Merit Clothing Company. He waa secretary-treasurer and general manager of Merit until 1937 when he retired. In 1938 he became general manager and president of Lochridge and Ridgway, a retail furniture store.

He was mayor of Mayfield from 1922 to 1926.
