WALNUT COVE, NC ~ Mr. Paul William Bennett, 88, of Walnut Cove died Monday at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury.
Mr. Bennett was born March 1, 1912, in Surry County to the late Squire Thomas Bennett and Mary Elizabeth Bennett.
He was a retired farmer and a member of New Birth Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Bennett; a son, J.W. Bennett; a granddaughter; and two grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Bennett of the home; three daughters, Betty Tilley, Ann and husband J.D. Stultz, all of Walnut Cove and Linda and husband Wayne Fulp of Deltona, Fla.; a son, Harold and wife Della Bennett of King; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Bowman and the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. at Pinnacle View Baptist Church Cemetery in Surry County.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Betty Tilley, Walnut Cove, N.C. 27052.
