HEADLEY, DELIA BEECH died December 22, 2010. She was born in Montgomery, AL on April 3, 1916. Her parents were James Ledbetter and Lida Means Beech. She was predeceased by her husband, Alpheus Warren Headley and her brothers, Gould Means Beech and James Ledbetter Beech Jr.
She is survived by her children, Jane Headley Morgan (Dr. Cecil) and Robert Beech Headley (Beverly). Her grandchildren are Delia Morgan Carr (Jim), Alison Lochridge Bruhn (Mitch), Robert Beech Headley (Carrie), Susan Mitchell (Craig), and nine great grandchildren.
Family and friends were the focus of her life. She took great joy in helping others, touching many lives. Mrs. Headley had a lifelong love of collecting antiques.
She attended Montevallo College for Women. She was a member of The Daughters of Colonial Wars, The Colonial Dames of The Seventeenth Century and the Jamestown Society. She was a member of St. Margaret's Guild at the Church of the Advent.
During her last year, she was cared for by Mary Mpemba and Suzana Mgeni. The family extends special thanks to them.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30th at the Cathedral Church of the Advent. The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. in Clingman Commons. Burial will be private for the family at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Cathedral Church of the Advent, 2017 6th Avenue N, Birmingham, AL 35203, or the charity of your choice.
