JAMESTOWN - John A. Cobb, 68, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at his home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in Guilford Memorial Park. A service of remembrance will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Jamestown Presbyterian Church by Dr. Sam Henderson.
Mr. Cobb was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church. He was a retired air traffic controller, after serving for 36 years. He served with the Agency for International Development from 1969-71, during the Vietnam War, training air traffic controllers. He also served in the armed forces, during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara "Bobbie" Turner Cobb; a daughter, Cynthia Louise Cobb Strauss of Durham; son, John Albert Cobb, Jr. of Charlotte; step-sons, Joe Carroll Clayton, II of Thomasville, Keith Turner Clayton of Jamestown; two grandsons, John Thomas King, III of Durham, Brandon Keith Clayton of Greensboro; sister, Vera Ann Ingle of Whitsett; brother, Voight Waggoner Cobb, Jr. of Gibsonville.
The family will receive friends at the church, following the service of remembrance, other times, at their home.
