Ann's childhood was spent in the Mission, Texas area. She was working for the USO near Moor Field, Texas Army Base when she met Odis.

She was employed as a secretary for a real estate firm, being the "Lady Friday" and even venturing into the selling market some. She had a most gracious manner and displayed true Southern hospitality. Her extremely fair skin complemented her beauty.

She was an exceptionally good cook and had a special touch with strawberry cake. She was very active in the First Methodist Church. For many years she and Odis tenderly and compassionately cared for her mother and grandmother in their home.
