Dee Jussel, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday June 20, 2012, at her home.

Dee was born in McGregor, Iowa, on Aug. 5, 1923. She was raised by her loving parents, Ray and Martha Farmer. Her family moved from Iowa to North Dakota to Rigby, Idaho. They were active members in the community and the Community Presbyterian Church. After attending Montana State University, where she received a registered nursing degree, she returned home.

She was lounging on the porch of the Riverside Hotel in Lava Hot Springs when she met and fell for her husband, Chuck Jussel, a charming and handsome gunnery instructor with the Air Corps.

They married, and after a few adventures on their own, they settled down and raised a brood of three boys and two girls. She was a dedicated, hardworking and loving mother to Nancy (Dale) Lundblade, Brent (Sandra) Jussel, Laurie (Jim) Mende, Jerry (Nancy) Jussel and Craig (Mary) Jussel. She is the coolest of grandmothers that any of her grandkids could imagine to Scott Lundblade, Kim (Beau) Floyd, Adam and Kevin Jussel, Jake and Dan Mende, Natalie (Rob) Olsen, Amy (Heath) Scott and Tyler (Amy) Jussel, and Claire and Anna Jussel. She had a blast with her great-grandkids.

Her greatest loves after God and her family and friends, which always included her pets and animals, were the Teton Mountains and lakes where countless family picnics and adventures took place, and her charitable causes. She spent many hours volunteering for Women Against Domestic Violence and the Idaho Food Bank. She was passionate regarding animal rights and providing quality medical care for children regardless of ability to pay.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, in Rigby Cemetery, followed by a celebration of our Mom's and Grandma's amazing spirit and life at 11 a.m. at the Rigby Community Presbyterian Church, 111 W. First North in Rigby. We welcome all of her friends to join us for a cup of coffee and to share a story. Visitation will be at the church for 30 minutes prior to the memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
