Gregory Daryl "Side Kick" Chaney, 39, of Ferrum died suddenly due to a heart attack Wednesday, June 20, 20l2.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Chaney; brother, Roosevelt Junior Chaney; and sister, Teresa Chaney.

Surviving are his mother, Margaret Griffith Chaney; son, Brandon Lee Chaney, sister, Margie Angle (Gene); brothers, Todd Chaney (Renee), Barry Chaney (Donna); nieces and nephews, Kelsey Chaney, Kaydale Reed, Toby Chaney, Judson Holley; and many other family members including aunts, uncles and cousins.

He enjoyed auto racing, horseshoes, fishing and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, with Pastor David Braxton officiating.

Interment will follow in Mountcastle Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Ferrum Vol. Fire Dept. or Rescue Squad. His family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday June 23, 2012, at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, and other times at the home, 2433 Marshall Hill, Ferrum.
