Lucy Ware married Thomas Wray on 4 Sep 1860 and was the daughter of Dr. Edward Rowell and Margaret Bacon Ware. After less than two years of marriage, Lucy's husband died. Southern Watchman: 26 Feb 1862: Thomas died 12 Feb 1862 at residence of his mother in Greene County, in his 21st year, the staff and support of a widowed and sorely afflicted mother, the heart's idol of a young and devoted wife, his loss is mourned by aching hearts with bitter tears; member of Presbyterian Church.
Lucy never remarried, moving to Augusta after the death of her parents. Lucy's sister, Grace Barrett also lived in Augusta.
The Augusta Georgian ran the following obituary on 11 Feb 1901:
The funeral services for Lucy W. Wray will be held at the home of Col. T. G. Barrett Wed. morning, Feb. 13th at 11:00.
Athens Daily Banner 12 Feb. 1901:
Mrs. Lucy Wray, died yesterday in Augusta; funeral in Augusta; daughter of the late Dr. Edward R. Ware and sister of the late Mrs. Prof. L. H. Charbonnier; Magnolia Cemetery Augusta, GA.
