Husband of 1. Waity Johnson, 2. Eliza Ann Marlette.
He was a Quaker.
The March 22, 1861 edition of The Freeman's Journal contained the following obituary for Henry:
"In Laurens, Feb. 21st, of palsy, Mr. HENRY HOPKINS, aged 68 years. This old resident and prominent citizen of Laurens was a man of fine business tact and excellent management. His friends placed great confidence in his judgment, and relief upon him as a sound adviser in all questions requiring a clear head and calm thought. His loss is keenly felt; and as he put his trust in the Redeemer of men, his friends hope that their loss is his gain."
