As a young man, Grant worked with his father on the family farm and ran cattle with his three uncles, Chet, Ern and Bill Geisler.
Grant married his sweetheart, Barbara Ann Dansie, on July 17, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She died May 27, 1997. He was trained by Barbara's brother, Jerry Dansie, to be a jeweler. Grant owned and operated his own jewelry stores in Driggs and Ashton, Idaho. He retired from the jewelry business in the late 60's. He then worked at Ricks College and retired from there in 1989.
Grant married Belva Ilene Weeks on July 31, 1998, and they made their home in Rexburg. Grant was active in the Rotary Club in Ashton and drove school bus for years in Ashton. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in 3 bishoprics, on the High Council, and 8 years as bishop, as well as a temple ordinance worker and sealer.
He is survived by his wife, Belva, of Rexburg, son, Richard (Nancy) of Rexburg; daughters, Kristine Jardine, of California, and Carol Jardine, of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, 5 sisters, 1 brother, a son, Kenneth, and a grandson, Caleb Collins.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at the Rexburg 16th Ward Chapel, under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
