Nellis was the daughter of John William Jardine and Rhoda Matilda Marie Lowder Geisler. She attended school in Annis and graduated from Midway High School in 1939. She played the snar drum and sang in duets during high school. She went to business school in Nampa, Idaho for 6 months.

She had a beautiful alto voice and enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines. She worked for Mountain Bell and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center as an admission clerk. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She married Merlin Hart in the Logan LDS Temple on Aug. 13, 1941. They were later divorced. She married Edwin Beck in Shelley, Idaho, on Aug. 3, 1974.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society chorister, Primary teacher, and Young Women's counselor.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, meeting with her family home evening group, and spending time with her dear friends and family.

Survivors included her 3 daughters, Annette H. Curtis, of Mesa, Arizona; Sallie (Craig) Hobbs, of Idaho Falls; and Rebecca H. (Frank) Casperson, of Cedar City, Utah; 2 sons, Ronald M. (Kathy) Hart, of Soda Springs, Idaho; and Brent J. (Pam) Hart, of Idaho Falls; 2 step-daughters, Maxine (Ray) Hillman, of Alaska; and Marie B. (Roger) Clark, of Shelley, Idaho, a sister, Roba (Reed) Crystal, of Burley, Idaho; a brother, Grant W. (Belva) Jardine, of Rexburg, Idaho; 44 grandchildren, and 78 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin, and 2 sisters, Vera Mills and Fern Jardine.

Funeral services were held on Sept. 20 at the Shelley 8th Ward with Bishop Lynn Beck conducting.
