Delores Deen “Dee” Tinney, 82, of Pekin, passed away at 2:20 a.m., Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Pekin Hospital.
She was formerly of Bloomington for many years.
Born March 25, 1930, in Rockford to Roy and Edna Mayfield Leonard, she married Nathan Tinney Jr. on Aug. 1, 1948, in Pekin.
Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Deborah (Roger) Johnson; two grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Johnson and Nicholas Johnson and three sisters, Bertha Murray, Marjorie (Don) Schoedel and Mary Lou (John) Albrecht.
Delores worked as a swim instructor for 25 years at the YWCA in Pekin and Bloomington and the East Bay Camp in Bloomington.
She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Ralph Wingate will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
