Manitowoc Herald News, Monday, May 16, 1921 P. 1: "TAPS SOUND FOR LAST WAR VET AT REEDSVILLE (Special to the Herald-News) REEDSVILLE, May 16th—Louis Rusch will not march in the Memorial day parade here on May 30. Reedsville's last surviving veteran of the Civil war heard taps for the last time Sunday and has been summoned for the grand review of heroes who in 1861-65, battled for the preservation of the union. For years, Mr. Rusch has been the one uniformed veteran participating in the Memorial day exercises and his presence will be missed. The death of Mr. Rusch followed for a general breakdown due to advanced age. During the Civil war he served with the 26th Wisconsin Infantry and was in many of the important battles of the war, serving for three years. Mr. Rusch is survived by his wife and two half brothers."
