Gertrude Prochnow, age 88, of North Ridge Care Nursing Home, Manitowoc, formerly
of Reedsville, died Monday, August 30, 1993, at North Ridge Care Center.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 1993, at St. John-St.
James Lutheran Church, Reedsville. Rev. David Kipfmiller will officiate with
burial in West Side Cemetery.
She was born May 28, 1905, in the Town of Rockland, daughter of the late Otto and
Augusta Bubolz Mahnke. She married Elmer Prochnow, June 14, 1926, in Reedsville.
He preceded her in death December 13, 1976. She was a housewife and helped in her
husband's grocery business. She is a member of St. John-St. James Lutheran Church
and the Ladies Aide, Reedsville, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Reedsville.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Al Vigil, Brookfield,
Wis., Marlene and Gerald Liebergen, Fort Atkinson; three sons and two daughters-in-
law, Harland Prochnow, West Sun City, Ariz., Bud and Ruth Prochnow, Reedsville,
Terry and Karen Prochnow, Reedsville; a sister-in-law, Lorena Mahnke, North Ridge
Care Center, Manitowoc; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by a daughter, Pearl Plate, a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Prochnow, a sister,
Esther Maertz and a brother, Paul Mahnke.
Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday,
September 1, 1993, and from 7:45-10:30 a.m. on Thursday and then from 11 a.m. at
the hour of service.
