Hershel S. Baxter, 81, of Bloomington, died early Sunday at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1909, in Rochester, he was the son of Samuel Ezra and Sarah (Chandler) Baxter. He was a retired employee of Indiana University in the athletic department. He attended the Westside Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae (Van Buskirk) Baxter; one sister, Irene Belle Scroggins of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Roy Baxter, and one sister, Gertie Cazee.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. Kiah Rayl officiating.
Entombment will be in Valhalla Mausoleum.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
