Margaretha Vitek (German spelling: Witek) was born on 22 Dec 1828 in House # 245, Horní Bečva, Moravia (then part of the Austrian Empire, now Czech Republic). She was the daughter of Josef Vitek and Anna Mekyna.

Margaretha married Josef Dornak on 11 Nov 1856 in Horní Bečva, Moravia.
She and Josef were the parents of 6 children: Josef born in 1857 and died in 1858, Johann "John" born in 1859, Mariana born in 1861, Joseph born in 1966, Veronika born and died in 1871, and Rozina born in 1872 and died in 1873.

She immigrated to Texas with her husband and their 3 surviving children: Johann, Mariana, and Joseph. They arrived on the ship Frankfurt on 27 April 1881 in New Orleans, Louisiana after a voyage of 29 days; they then sailed into Galveston, Texas on a smaller packet ship.
The family settled in Frelsburg, Colorado County, Texas where they were engaged in farming.

Margaretha Vitek Dornak died on 16 Feb 1883 in Frelsburg, Texas at the age of 54. She is buried in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Her headstone has weathered beyond identification but church records document her burial here.
After her death, her family moved to Nada in Colorado County, Texas.
