Beatrice Monica Adam, daughter of James Graham Adam (1862-1951), who was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He worked for an East Indian firm in London and in 1892 was stationed in Rangoon, Burma. There he met and married Beatrice Man, and they had five children. The Adams came to Canada in 1903 and homesteaded near Red Lodge, Alberta until 1917 when they moved to Calgary. James worked as an accountant, 1918-1922, and as secretary-treasurer of the Diocese of Calgary, 1922-1937. He was involved in local theatre and wrote musical comedies which were performed in both Red Lodge and Calgary. In 1938 he and Beatrice retired to Kelowna.
