Daughter of Wm. and Caroline (Shafer) Hoffman. She came via wagon train to Oregon in 1850's with parents, aunts, uncles and sisters Mary Henrietta, Sophia, Julia, Amelia and Kate. She lst married Judge Thomas H. B. Shipley and may be the mother of Anna May (Shipley) 1869-1954 buried in this cemetery). Following the death of the Judge, she married tombstone maker James C. Whipp. Mother of Carrie, Verne and Gerturde Wipp by James.
