Myrtle was the daughter of Jacob Newton Williams and Sally Elizabeth Allison. She married Harrison Jefferson Winton on November 14, 1916 in Jackson County, Alabama.

Myrtle and Harrison had six children; Florence Mae Winton, Alma Lillian Winton, James Kerney (Bud) Winton, Helen Rae Winton, Truman R.J. Winton and Dorotha June Winton.
