OBITUARY:

Veteran Teacher
Died Wednesday

Mrs. Raymond Falen, a veteran teacher in the Stafford school system, died Wednesday after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. For the past year she has fought the disease without complaint but with the constant knowledge she was steadily losing.

A teacher that was always admired, respected and loved by her students Mrs. Falen took pleasure in watching the development of the youngsters that had been exposed to her instruction.

She was among teachers honored here last spring for the time spent in the teaching profession. A pin signifying 24 years in teaching was presented her with 20 of those years spent in the early development of youngsters in the Stafford schools.

In addition to her teaching career she was always an active worker in the Methodist church plus caring for the needs of her family and home. Always quiet and unassuming she was an asset to the community that will indeed be missed.

Survivors include the widower, Raymond, of the home, a daughter Doris, Albuquerque, New Mexico; a son Darrell of Lawrence; one sister, Hazel Salmon, St. John; a brother, Raymond Salmon, Winfield; and two grandchildren, Steven and Diana.

Born Aug. 4, 1906 at Stafford she had been a resident of the community for her entire life. She was married to Raymond Falen June 6, 1928 at Stafford.

A memorial service was held at the intermediate school this Thursday morning from 10:30 until 11 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Stafford Methodist Church with The Rev. H.J. Sterling officiating. Interment in the Stafford cemetery.
