Angier
Helen Ann Adams Stewart, 78, passed away on Wednesday at her residence.
A native of Harnett County she was the daughter of the late Everette Otis Adams and Nellie Virginia Young Adams.
Helen received a B.S. Degree from East Carolina in Business Education and English and taught for thirty years in Harnett County. She received the Harnett Central High School teacher of the year award for the 1980-1981 and 1990-1991 school years. She was also named Harnett County Schools Teacher of The Year for 1991-1992. Helen was a former member of Plainview Presbyterian Church.
She was a current member of Angier Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Deaconess. Her students, family and friends were a very important part of her life.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Angier Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her son, Del Stewart and wife, Paula, of Angier; sisters, Hazeleen A. Pleasant of Angier, Jackie A. Smith and husband, Ralston of Supply, Nancy A. Hart of Cary; brothers, Rexwell Adams and Elbert Adams, both of Angier; granddaughters, Kelly & Natalie Stewart; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Delano Stewart in 2010, and sisters, Gail Adams Gregory and Brookie A. Smith, brothers, Odell Adams and Conrad Adams.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, and at other times at the home.
Flowers are appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made to the Stained Glass Windows Fund, Angier Baptist Church, PO Box 130, Angier, NC 27501, or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 4oo East H. Street, Erwin, NC 28339.
