Mrs. Mary Costello Dies at Age 81

Mrs. Mary Alice Costello, 81, wife of John Costello of 211 Brookside, died at 5:40 a. m. today at her home following an illness of a month.

A native of Fulton, Mo., Mrs. Costello was born Oct. 30, 1864. She had resided in Alton for the past 32 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, David Lattin, a child of a former marriage; a daughter, Mrs. Rose Schmuch; a brother, William Massey, and a sister, Mrs. William Ganaway, both of Fulton, Mo., six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Three of her grandsons, Cpl. Jack Schmuch, United States Army, stationed on Leyte; Victor T. Schmuch, fireman 1/c, stationed in the south Pacific, and Pfc. Narva D. Lattin, stationed in the Philippines.

Funeral rites will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a. m. by the Rev. O. W. Heggemeier, pastor of Evangelical & Reformed church, In Bauer & Hoehn funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10:30 a. m. Friday.
