Filmographer. He was a cameraman for the German air force, the Luftwaffe, who filmed Nazi dictator Adolph Hitler's the final years during World War II. In March of 1945, he photographed Hitler before the dictator's April 30 suicide in his Berlin bunker. He also recorded some of Nazi era's key events including providing propaganda for Nazi Germany and the killing of civilians during the invasions of Eastern Europe by Nazi forces. He never officially joined the Nazi party, yet was held for several months after the war by United States forces at the Hammelburg prison camp. In 1992 he filmed a documentary "The Eye of the Third Reich." The Walter Frentz Collection is an online website displaying over 5,000 photographic images.
