Mrs. D.W. Doornink died at the home of her son Ed Doornink three and a half miles northwest of Sioux Center June twelfth of diabetes at the age of almost eighty years.
She was born in the Netherlands July nineteenth 1828. She came to this country about the year 1872 and settled in Greenleafton Minnesota. Four years later she moved to Sioux county.
She was one of the charter members of the First Reformed church of Sioux Center.
Up to the time of Mr. Doornink's death - which occurred a little more than nine months ago -she had lived on the old homestead but since then she had made her home with her youngest son Ed. Mr. and Mrs. Doornink were among the pioneer settlers of West Branch township.
Her disease was a lingering one of several years duration and her sufferings at times were intense but she bore it bravely and with resignation.
The funeral services were conducted from the First Reformed church at Sioux Center Monday - Rev. James De Pree officiating. Interment took place in the Sioux Center cemetery.
