John W Tillman Buried Monday
The sudden death of John W. Tillman at 11 o`clock on Friday evening came as a distinct shock to his family and friends. Mr. Tillmann was 69 years old. His passing was caused by a heart ailment. The previous day he had complained of the heat and of pains along his arms, saying that he feared he would have to take it a little easier.

Funeral services were held at 1:15 Monday afternoon from the Wollmer & Warne Funeral Chapel, and at 2 o`clock from Grace Lutheran church. Rev. Samuel W. Jensen officiated.
Mrs. T. R. Yongerman soloist at the service, with Mrs. Edmund Wagner as organist, Pallbearers were Ray Edelmaier, Roy Bott, Frank P. Bowersox, R. H. Schurman, W. C. Stigile and John Shaffer.

The body lay in state from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. Sunday.

Interment was in the Hooper cemetery, where military services were conducted by the American Legion.

In memory of Mr. Tillman, and as a mark of respect for his family, all business houses were closed during the funeral hour.

Mr. Tillman was a fine Christian gentleman, sincerely liked and respected by a wide circle of friends. Whatever task he undertook he did so with genuine intent of performing a perfect job in good spirits and those who worked with him got a lift from their contacts with him. His passing is profoundly mourned by a wide circle of friends.

John William Tillmann was born on January 9, 1894 at Hooper, and passed away at his home here June 13, 1952. His parents were Joseph Tillman and Marie Klahn.
He enlisted in the service of his country on Sept. 18, 1917. He served both in this country and in Europe where he received a field commission. He was promoted in the field to Second Lieutenant at St. Aggnan, France and was honorably discharged on Sept. 4, 1919.

Mr. Tillman is survived by his wife Gladys; four children, Mrs. Leonard Rold, Madelia, Minn; Mrs. Robert Stalp, West Point; Mrs. Galen Moyer, Omaha; Jimmy Tillman, Hooper; and one step-son, William Hargens, Hooper; four brothers, Harry H of Fremont; Peter, Boulder, Colo.; Joe and Dewey of Hooper. In addition he is survived by 7 grandchildren.
Jack, as he was known by a multitude of friends, was employed for many years as street commissioner in Hooper, during which time he gained the friendship of both the adults and children of the community.

Mr. Tillmann was a member of the Grace Lutheran church, a charter member of the Cornelius Tillman Post No 18, American Legion of Hooper.
