Josie T Hughes, 77, of Scotia, Nebraska died Thursday, September 17, 1981 at a Grand Island, Nebraska hospital.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Greeley, Nebraska. The Rev. Bernard Berger will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 pm at Keating Mortuary in Elba, Nebraska. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Hughes was born January 6, 1904, at Cotesfield, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Katy Splinek Tuma. She grew up and received her education at Cotesfield.
She married William Earl Hughes on May 24, 1928, at St. Paul, Nebraska. They farmed in the St. Paul area until 1944. when they moved to a farm near Scotia. Mr. Hughes died in 1972, and she moved into town. She was a member of St. Patrick's parish at Scotia and had been active in the church.
Survivors include three sons, Don of Scotia and Russell and William, both of Omaha; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Phillip of Scotia and Cecil of Lincoln, and three sisters, Mrs. Agnes King of Grand Island and Mrs. Helen Horky and Mrs. Kathryn Lukesh, both of St. Paul. She was preceded in death by four, brothers and a sister.
