John Henry Johns, Oldest resident in this end of the county died at home in Wiconisco, 94-5-6.

Born in Heidelberg Twp, Adams County on April 7, 1807, his parents moved to Lancaster when he was age 3 years old. After a few years, the family returned to Adams Co., where he started working. He returned in a few years, however, married Miss Catherine Dickey of Lancaster, after which in 1840, he located in Wiconisco for the vast majority of the time.

He had 8 children, 3 boys 5 girls. All sons, except John W. of South St. this borough, are dead. Only one daughter survives, Susan Mrs John Holtzman of Wiconisco. Catherine died age 16. Rebecca Mrs Josiah Minnich about ___ years ago., The other daughter died in infancy. His wife survives at age 79 years.
