Born June 15, 1912 in Arcadia, she was the daughter of Joseph Gavlas and the former Theresa Woytk.
Her husband, James A. Madden, preceded her in death on July 2, 1985.
She attended the Church of St. Luke in Jersey Shore and was employed by Kelco in Jersey Shore.
She worked on the election board in Avis and was involved in the 4-H program for many years. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She is survived by a son, James D. Madden of Loganton; three daughters, Joan Shilling of Virginia Beach, Va., Doris Brubaker of Rochester Mills, and Nancy Barton of Mill Hall;13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
