His parents names were incorrectly named as "John DeCOURSEY and Emma HILL". This incorrect information was provided by his son, Fred P. DeCOURSEY, who at that time did not know who his own paternal grand parents were. As a child, he had met his great uncle John DeCOURSEY of Winona and his great-grandmother, Mary Ann (TRACEY) BARNEY HILL and mistakenly named them as his father's parents on the death certificate Fred DeCOURSEY later told his son, William Leslie DeCoursey that he guessed at his father's parents names because he had never been told. Subsequent research has shown Leslie's parents to have been Isaac Henry DeCourcy and his first wife, Anna Emma Cornelius Barney. See: Death Certificate #1425
