Elizabeth was born in Denver, which was then part of Arapahoe County, Colorado. She was educated in Loveland and Fort Collins, Colorado, and Billings, Montana.

She married P. D. (Philip Detrich) Yost on Dec. 23, 1919, in Loveland, Colorado. They lived in Nebraska before moving to Billings in 1927. They returned to Nebraska in 1934. After her husband’s death in 1955, Elizabeth moved back to Billings. At the time of her death, she lived at 2351 Solomon Avenue.

Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and doing volunteer work. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

She was survived by three sons, a daughter, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was buried on Dec. 20, 1989. (Her middle initial is listed as "N" in the cemetery records.)
