St. Joseph, MO-Harry M. Matthews, 70, St. Joseph, MO, died Monday, Dec. 10, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Matthews was a sheet metal worker before he retired in 1978. He later taught music at his home until August 1984.
He was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Topeka, the son of Karl and Blanche Golden Matthews. He moved from Topeka to St. Joseph in 1960.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church at St. Joseph.
His wife, Mrs. Dawn A. Grice Matthews survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Judy A. Moore, St. Joseph, and Leslie R. Bremer, Oberlin; two sisters, Arline Nelson, Escondido, Calif., and Mary Fanrope, Madison, WI; and three grandchildren.
services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home St. Joseph. Entombment services will be at 2:30 pm Wednesday at Mount Hope Mausoleum in Topeka. Mr. Matthews will lie in state until service time at the funeral home.
