The funeral for Arnold S. Nestegard, 90, of Rugby, formerly of rural Leeds, will be held Wed.. Sept. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Leeds. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Sept. 5, 1998 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.

Pastor Mark Antal will officiate. Karen Anderson will be organist. Pallbearers will be David Ahlberg, Warren Anderson, Donald Bratlee, Billy Harkness, Richard Jorgenson & Duane Rauk. The Nelson Funeral Home of Leeds is in charge of arrangements.

Arnold Sanford Nestegard was born March 11, 1908 in Springfield Township of Towner County near Leeds to Ole & Mathilda Gilbertson Nestegard. He was raised there, educated at the Springfield Township School & later attended the Hanson Tractor School in Fargo. He married Cora Paulson at Leeds Nov. 6, 1935. They farmed his family's homestead until they retired in 1993 & moved to the Haaland Home in Rugby. He became a resident of the Heart of America Medical Center's Long Term Care Unit in Jan. of 1996.

He was a member of the North Prairie Free Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Farmers Union Oil Co. of York & served as its secretary for 38 years.

Survivors include his wife, Cora, of Rugby; a daughter & son-in-law, Carole Ann & Dr. Robert Cook of Minot; a son, Arnold C. "Arne" Nestegard of Minot; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; & 2 sisters, Oleda Fogelson of Leeds & Ruth Bye of Cambridge, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Aster Nestegard & Gladys Jorgenson; a daughter-in-law, Irene Nestegard; & a granddaughter, Nancy Nestegard.
