The Terry Tribune, 1-5-1988:

Rudolph John Basta was born July 7, 1909 in Chicago, a son of John and Anna Moidl Basta. He moved to MT with his parents where they homesteaded 15 miles southwest of Lindsay. He attended rural school and Terry High School, graduating in 1928.
On October 31, 1931, he married Agnes Thompson in Circle. They farmed with his father and then moved to Nome ND, where they farmed with her father . They returned to the Lindsay area in 1941 and purchased their own farm in 1944. They farmed there until 1963 when they moved to Glendive and he sold insurance for Farmers Union.
They lived in Baker for a few years, returning to Glendive where he owned and operated his own bike shop. His wife died in 1983. He then, married Beulah Mitchell on April 21, 1984 in Glendive. They have lived there since.
Mr Basta, 79, died December 30, 1988 in the Glendive Community Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Don Basta of Lincoln NE, Dennis Basta of Lindsay, Dan Basta of Cheyenne WY, David Basta of Coon Rapids MN, and Tom Basta of Aloha OR; a brother Charles Basta of Glendive; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
