Quarrel Over Cards Ends In Killing
Glendive, Oct. 2--Coroner W. B. Foster returned today from Red Water, where he went to hold an inquest on the body of Niklaus Abbuhl, who died Thursday from effects of a blow on the head received during and altercation about a card game. The verdict from the inquest was that Abbuhl came to his death by a blow on his head by a spade delivered by John Cook. Abbuhl was a sheepherder in the employ of Samuel Church of Billings. He was 35 years of age, of German descent, and a member of the Odd Fellow and Woodmen.
As far as can be learned, his only surviving relative is his father, who resides in Portland, Ore.
John Cook, his assailant was brought to Glendive and lodged in jail to await trial.
