Maurice was the only son and second child of Joseph and Gabrielle (Roy) Donovan. A 1958 graduate of Durfee High School, Maurice served in the Massachusetts National Guard, once receiving Reservist of the Year.
He was a grocer, working at Stop & Shop, where his uncle Arthur had worked, first in Fall River, then in Middletown and finally in Newport, next to the Tennis Hall of Fame on Bellevue Ave. He retired on February 20, 2003 after forty years in service.
He died of natural causes in 2010, after being ill for quite some time.
