SANFORD - Joseph Mathieu, 75, husband of Eveline Mathieu of 3 Riverbank Court, Springvale, died Monday evening at the Henrietta D. Goodall Hospital after a long illness.
A Springvale resident the past 43 years, he was born Aug. 3, 1883 at Ste. Helene, Que., son of Napoleon and Philomene Larochelle Mathieu. Mr. Mathieu was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Order of Alter Society. He was a carpenter by trade.
Mr. Mathieu is survived by his wife, five sons, Maurice, Valmont, and Ronald, all of Hialeah, Fla., Omer of Grafton, OH., and Andre of Springvale; four daughters, Mrs. Andrew Boudreau, Mrs. Roger Emard and Mrs. Paul Allaire, all of Springvale, and Mrs. Giles Tourigny of Sanford; two brothers, Amede of Victoriaville, Que., and Theophile of Sanford; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Cote of Sanford and Mrs. Hector Richard of Grandmere, Que., and 20 grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 7 am. Friday at the Lafrance Funeral Home, Winter Street. A Solemn High Requiem Mass at 8 am will be held at Notre Dame Church. Entombment is to be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
