Parks was a Private in the Civil War. During a battle he received an injury which required them to amputate one of his arms. This information comes from a letter written by Parks niece, great grandmother of Michael Hurdle. He passed this information along to me.


Parks was the son of Britton Chappell and Mary Crouch. He married Eliza Jane Bowden Jan 3, 1869 in Richmond County, NC. They had 4 children that I know of, Lydia, Alva, Mary, and Ralph.
