Barrett Funeral Saturday
Funeral services for Fred Barrett, Sr., Rt. 2, who died Tuesday afternoon in St. Mary's Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roberts-Blue-Barnett Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Sherman E. Frederick, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The son of Dave and Catherine Barrett, Fred Barrett was born Oct. 8th, 1886, in Deidel, Russia, and moved with his family to Emporia when he was two years old. He was married to Anna Reynolds Nov. 1st, 1909, in Emporia, and he had for many years operated a farm northeast of Emporia. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died March 12th, 1963, and by one son, Robert; two brothers, Dave and Henry, and two sisters, Catherine Lackman and Mrs. Henry Buch, and he is survived by eight sons, Clarence, of Admire; Fred, Jr., Rt. 2; Ernest, of Woodland, Calif.; Roy, of 1314 Drury Lane; Wilbur, 405 S. Market St.; William, Kansas City; Edward, 1617 East Sixth Ave.; and Duane, 625 Lincoln St.; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Bishop, Wichita, and Mrs. Walter Thomas, Bushong; 10 granddaughters, 13 grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
