Born in Turkey, Tunc became a basketball star in his native country, and carried the Turkish flag into Helsinki Stadium during the summer Olympics ceremonies in 1952. In 1966, he decided to begin a new life in the United States. He was hired by Atlantic Records as the tape librarian then became assistant to Arif Mardin before being named Studio Manager and steadily moved up holding the positions Director of Artist Relations, National Special Projects and Album Coordinator, Vice President of National Album Promotion and finally Senior Vice President. He became mentor, friend and confident to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Bette Midler, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Genesis and Tori Amos. He was also credited as the reason the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is centered in Cleveland, OH.
