Ellen G. Baird
Ellen G. Baird, 68 a Naperville resident for 38 years, died Saturday, March 21, 1992 in Edward Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1924 in Conifer, N.Y.
Mrs. Baird was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Church and a member of Catholic Daughter of America. Having been a volunteer at Edward Hospital for 30 years, she served as chairman of Evening Reception Service since 1966, and as chairman of the Blood Bank service since 1991.
She was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award at Edward Hospital in 1979 for contributing more than 2,700 hours of service. She had also been the late Judge Win G. Knoch's personal secretary.
Mrs. Baird is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jerry Baird, two sons, Michael of Fort Madison, Iowa, and Christopher of Naperville, and seven daughters – Susan (Mrs. Floyd) Jones of Wheaton, Linda (Mrs. Robert) Casey of Los Angeles, Calif., Amy (Mrs. John) Arlowe of Warrenville, Joanne Lynch of Hopkins, Minn., Marianne (Mrs. Bill) Germann of Omaha, Neb., Wanda Baird of Naperville and Jacqueline (Mrs. Mark) Lehrer of Downers Grove.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Natalie Bourdage of Tupper Lake, N. Y. and Wilma Jasper of Freemont, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Minnie Boyer, two brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. yesterday at SS Peter and Paul Church. Interment took place in SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Memorials in Mrs. Baird's name may be made to the Care and Counseling Center, 5329 Main St., Downers Grove, 60515; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements were made by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home.
