Felix Augustus "Gus" Ivey was born in Warren County, Georgia, in 1827 to Gutheridge Ivey (1788-1838) and Sarah Davis (1790-1882).

He married Martha Ivey (possibly a cousin) in early December, 1848, in Warren County (the date appears in some records as 4 Dec and in others as 7 Dec).

One of their children was Robert Harris Ivey, born in December 1849.

Gus was a carpenter by trade. After he was widowed (date unknown), he went to live with his son, Van Ivey, in Augusta, Georgia.

He died from a fall down a flight of stairs, breaking his neck, sometime around midnight on 12 November 1897. A scan of an article from the "Augusta Chronicle" is attached in the photos section of this page; it details the accident.

Gus Ivey is my Great Great Grandfather.
