Katie shows up on the 1880 Census, living in Bourbon, Marshall Co., Indiana, identified as the step-daughter of George Kitch. Her mother Sarah must have been married to someone with the Highshew surname but I could not find a marriage record to reflect that. I did find a record for a David Hiteshew and a Sarah Lilly in Feb. 1867 in Putnam, Ohio. Katie was born in 1868 in Ohio so the record seems plausible despite the one-letter difference in the surname.

Katie married Isaiah Grossman on 24 Dec. 1886 in Marshall Co., Indiana. They had at least eleven children together--Carrie Ethel (1889-1890), Clarence M. (1891-1895), Nora M. (b.1888), Harrold H. (b.1893), Lawrence G. (b.1896), Mary R. (b.1898), Graham H. (b.1900), Lura M. (1901-1902), Dorothy A. (b.1905), Hope (b.1907) and Louise "Lois" B. (b.1912)

I found the family living on the 1900 Census, living in Bourbon, where Isaiah was farming for a living. Besides Isaiah, Katie and their four children, James Grossman, born in 1882, and identified as Isaiah's brother was living with the family. As Isaiah's mother died in 1879, James was more-likely his half-brother, the son of Henry Grossman's second wife Sarah who married Henry in 1880.

The family was still living in Bourbon on the 1910 and 1920 Census. Katie died before the next census. Isaiah appeared on the 1930 Census, widowed, with four of his daughters--Nora and Dorothy, both of whom were teachers, Hope, who was working as a bookeeper, and Lois.

Isaiah died in 1940 at age 75, and was laid to rest at wife Katie's side.
