RubyRose Hansen was born on June 10, 1929 in Newell, Iowa, the daughter of Harding H. and Carrie E. (Fitchett) Hansen. She attended school in the Newell and Sulphur Springs area, graduating from Highview High School with the class of 1948.
As an infant, RubyRose was baptized at her home in Newell in 1929. She would later become a faithful member of the St. Mary's Parish in Storm Lake, where she was a member of the Legion of Mary.
On December 5, 1948, RubyRose was united in marriage to Loren H. Piercy in Newell. This union was blessed with two sons: Kevin and Kimberly.
In the 1950's, RubyRose was the president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as an inspector at Aalfs Manufacturing as well as 12 years at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.
RubyRose was a loving and devoted mother. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially the opportunity to babysit her grandchildren, as well as others. Traveling and making quilts brought RubyRose much enjoyment over the years.
Those left to cherish RubyRose's memory are her sons: Kevin (Gloria) Piercy of Storm Lake; Kimberly L. (Susan) Piercy of Alta, Iowa; five grandchildren: Heath P. (Amy Michelle) Piercy of North Liberty, Iowa; Amy C. (Marc) Bagon of Des Moines, Iowa; Travis Piercy of Des Moines; Ryan L. Piercy of Alta, Iowa; Brandon L. Piercy of Alta, Iowa; great grandchildren: Cole, Kiley, Caden, Carson, Dorain, Addison, Camryon, Tate and Gage; brother, Kenneth S. (Mary) Hansen; sister, Betty Y. Eickhoff; special friends, Bob Kelsey and Nancy Gordon; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; brothers-in-law: Edgar (Katie) Piercy and Norman W. (Mavis) Piercy; sister, Margie (Louis) Peck; brother-in-law, Edgar Eickhoff; and nephew, Steven Eickhoff.
