Buffalo Soldier Dies in Bomber Crash. Private First Class Vito W. Bandinelli, 21-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Bandinelli, 443 Massachusetts Ave., was killed almost instantly Wednesday when the four-engined B-24 bomber, of which he was a crew member, crashed in taking off from the Smyrna (Tenn.) Army Airfield. Three captains and another enlisted man also were killed in the crash. Private Bandinelli, in the Army since last August, was an airplane mechanic. He was stationed in Atlantic City before going to Smyrna. A former McKinley High School student, he is survived by his parents, four brothers, Sergt. Anthony in Africa, James, Angelo and Nicholas, and two sisters, Rose and Josephine.
