Mary was the daughter of Stephen and Nancy Hussey of Kennebec County, Maine. She married Cyrus Bourke Sinclair on February 22, 1835 in China, Maine. Seven of her nine children were born in Maine. In May of 1850, Cyrus and Mary traveled by oxen and covered wagon to Amro, Wisconsin and in November of 1851 to La Crosse, Wisconsin. In the spring of 1854, they crossed the Mississippi River into Minnesota to enter a claim in Houston County near Money Creek. Two more children were born here. Later, the family moved to Pleasant Hill Township in Winona County, Minnesota, and continued farming.

Mary died in 1883 as a result of typhoid, complicated by pneumonia. Services were held in the Baptist Church in Money Creek and burial was in the Money Creek cemetery. Mary had been a member of the Baptist Church for over 50 years. She had been married to Cyrus for nearly 50 years."
