George Sinclair, Old Time Resident Here, Answers Final Call
Funeral services were held at the Big Sandy Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock for George Sinclair, old-time resident of this section, who passed away at the Deaconess hospital at Havre Saturday evening about 8 o'clock a victim of pneumonia. News of Mr. Sinclair's passing came as a distinct shock to the community Sunday, as he had been up and around in fairly good health until a few days before his death. Mr. Sinclair was in his 80th year.
Services were under the auspices of Treasure Lodge No. 95. A. F. and A. M., of which Mr. Sinclair was a member. Many friends gathered Tuesday to pay their respects. Interment was in Big Sandy cemetery.
Mr. Sinclair was a man of sterling qualities who will be missed by friends and associates everywhere.
George Harrison Sinclair was born in Augusta, Maine, in the year of 1855. He moved with his parents to Winona, Minn., as a boy and received his early schooling there. In 1908 he was married to Muriel Pratt at Brainard, Minn. Two children were born to this union, and in 1917 the family moved from Brainard to Big Sandy, Mont. During the residence here Mr. Sinclair homesteaded in the Bear Paws, later moving to Laredo, where he acquired property. The family spent a year or so in the Judith Basin country, but most of his recent years were spent in Laredo and Big Sandy.
Mr. Sinclair is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. P. Campbell and Miss Mildred Sinclair of Denton, Mont.; one sister, Mrs. Charles Devlin of Somers, Mont.; one brother, Al Sinclair of Nisswa, Minn.; one grandchild. His former wife, now Mrs. James Dumphy, resides at Denton.
Mr. Sinclair enjoyed good health until about a year ago when he began to fail slightly. A few months ago he moved from Laredo to Big Sandy where he made his home until his sudden passing last Saturday. He was a true friend and a good citizen. His passing will be mourned by all who knew him.
