Emeryck Zakrzewski, age 89, of Stevens Point, WI, passed into the light on July 18, 2004, at his home. Services held at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Shuda Funeral Chapel. Mr. Zakrzewski was born Nov. 8, 1914, in Stevens Point, WI, son of the late Peter and Helen (Stanchik) Zakrzewski. He attended local schools. He was married to Irene Kawski on Nov. 18, 1933, at St Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek. She died April 6, 2002. He worked at Lullabye Furniture Co. and had his own bakery route, selling Point Bakery products. In 1949, he started the Blue Top Root Beer Stand, which evolved into the Blue Top Motel and Supper Club. He and his wife operated both businesses until retirement in 1999. A member of the Stevens Point Evening Lions, the Elks Lodge 641, the Moose Lodge and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include two sons, James (Delores), Stevens Point, and Richard (Bernice), Junction City; one brother, Adam, Stevens Point; one sister, Gertrude Slagowski, Stevens Point; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
