Richard R. Zakrzewski, 68, of 2067 Highway 10, Junction City, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at St Michael's Hospital. Richard was medically treated for the past 8 to 10 years for myelodysplactic-syndromes, a rare blood disease. He lost his battle to the disease after a courageous battle. Per Richard's wishes there will be no public services. The Shuda Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangments. Richard was born July 15, 1937, in Stevens Point ,the son of Emeryck and Irene (Kawski) Zakrzewski. He attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1956. He was married to Bernice Schilling on Aug. 25, 1959, in Waukon, Iowa. The couple returned to the area and have lived at their present address the past 40 years. Richard worked as a brakeman at the Soo line Railroad for 18 years before joining the family business at the Blue Top Supper Club. He retired in April 2005 Zakrzewski after serving as President of Blue Top Supper Club. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, trips to Canada, managing his deer farm, cooking, spending time with family and grandchildren, and entertaining friends and family at his cabin. He was a member of the local Elks Club. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; three children, Christine (Thomas) Wroblewski, Stevens Point, Jane (Kenneth) Zelinski, Junction City, and Walter (Kristyn) Zakrzewski, serving his county in Iraq; six grandchildren, Dylan and Ethan Wroblewski, Walker and Samara Zelinski and Caleb and Colten Zakrzewski; one brother, James (Delores) Zakrzewski, Stevens Point; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
