Daughter of my great, great, great grandparents, Captain Harrison Bennett and Sarah Hines Bennett.

She was married three times. First to Martin Adams (1844-1874) on April 21, 1867, in Randolph County, Arkansas. After the death of Martin Adams, in 1874, she was remarried on March 7, 1875, again in Randolph County, Arkansas, to William G. Bryan. He apparently died sometime prior to 1885.

She was married a third, and final time, to Williston Bates (1830-1897) on Sep. 13, 1885, in Washington County, Arkansas.

She gave birth to a total of 10 children three of whom (at least) were with each of her three husbands. Her 1900 census record (in Roanoke Twp., Randolph Co., AR.) recorded her as a woman who had given birth to 10 children - six of whom were still alive when the 1900 census was recorded. The six children of hers who we know were still alive in 1900 were William Harrison Adams b. 1871 d. 1934; Finis Marion Bryan b. 1877 d.1959; Gertrude Essie Bryan b. 1881 d. 1971; Lucy May Bates b. 1886 d. 1966; Lillie Bates b. 1892 d. 1978 and Inez "Ina" Bates b. 1888 d. 1964. This means that the following four children of hers all died prior to 1900: John W. Adams b. abt. 1868; Thalia L. Adams b. Oct. 1869; Olie Bryan b. 1879 and one other unknown child - the father of whom could have been any one of her three husbands.

Milton Chester Bennett remembered his "Aunt Jane" as a woman who arrived at his parents' home with a big box of "Post Toasties" and then went to bed for a week.
